For their 1987 album Rick Medlocke and Blackfoot (their final album for Atlantic Records), the new group was attempting a more radio-style 1980s rock music sound. Jeff Stevens played bass guitar for one track. Many of the group's fans were not all that happy with the changes. On August 5, 2016 Blackfoot released their first album in 20 years, "Southern Native". The video for the song and samples were released on August 2, 2016 via regular channels and social media
