Steve Gunn - Steve Gunn album FLAC
Steve Gunn is a New York-based guitarist and songwriter. Its nine songs set the bar for guitar-based transcendence in 2019 -Rolling Stone.
Steve Gunn is a New York-based guitarist and songwriter. His albums represent milestones of contemporary guitar-driven, forward music. Mining the catalogs of Robbie Basho, Sandy Bull, Michael Chapman, and Sonny Sharrock, among other titans of stringed-things, Steve has steadily processed these inspirations into a singular, virtuosic stream. Close listening reveals the influence of Delta and Piedmont country blues, free jazz, and psych on the continually unfolding compositions.
Steve Gunn has announced the release of his new and fourth solo album, The Unseen in Between, due January 18 on Matador Records. Today, he is also sharing the album’s leadoff track and first single, New Moon. The song is described as beginning in the mode of a deep track from Astral Weeks or Fred Neil, with its upright bass and sparse tremolo guitar. But during the final minutes, strings double the melody, and then the guitar rushes headlong, pulling ahead in a wave of ecstatic deliverance
As Gunn extolls the virtues of ambling, he gives himself lots of time to observe and ruminate. That reflectiveness is matched by the music, which is rarely static-there's always a shuffling beat or winding hook to keep the motor running-yet never rushed. Gunn’s band sounds confident without being complacent, and breezy in the best sense. The effects can be subtle as a whisper, but these songs continually move the air. Gunn continually refers to roads, paths, and changes in direction
