McKinley Mitchell - The Complete Malaco Collection Audio CD Release Date: November 25, 1992 Born in Jackson, Mississippi, in 1935, Mitchell had first recorded in his adopted home of Chicago, Illinois, for the Boxer label in 1959. He would spend the majority of the '60s cutting great soul songs for George Lamar's One-der-ful label. The Town I Live In was his first song to reach as high as Number 8 on the R & B charts in 1962.
