The Nolans are an Irish girl group who formed in 1974 as The Nolan Sisters, before changing their name in 1980. They are best known for their hit single "I'm In the Mood for Dancing". Released in December 1979, the song reached number three in the UK in February 1980 and topped the Japanese charts in November 1980. Selling over 25 million records, they are one of the world’s biggest selling girl groups.
Nolan Sisters is the self-titled 1979 album by the Irish sibling pop group The Nolan Sisters. It was their first album to be released on Epic Records, and contained a mixture of original material (composed for the group by Ben Findon, Mike Myers, and Robert Puzey) and covers of popular songs. The singles "Spirit Body and Soul" and "I'm In the Mood for Dancing" were released from the album, the latter becoming the group's best-known song. The release of that single also marked a group name change to The Nolans . Linda is the only Nolan said to have contributed to any vocals for these tracks. The backing vocals were provided by that of male singers. These are the only tracks that Coleen recorded with the sisters for the album. It remained on the chart for a total of thirteen weeks.
