Angel Dust is the fourth studio album by American rock band Faith No More. It is the follow-up to 1989’s highly successful The Real Thing, as well as the band’s final studio album with guitarist Jim Martin and the second to feature vocalist Mike Patton. It was the first album in which Patton had any substantial influence on the band’s music, having been hired after the other band members had written and recorded everything for The Real Thing except vocals and some lyrics.

Angel Dust is Faith No More at their very best, creating a benchmark that the band themselves failed to meet again and influencing a whole generation of poor clones in the Nu Metal era to the chigrin of singer Mike Patton. This is not only my favourite Faith No More album or my favourite of the 90's. it has stood the test of time and is probably my all time favourite record. Reply Notify me 3 Helpful.

Faith No More, a San Francisco-based band, have recorded approximately 100 songs over the course of their career; this includes material from six studio albums, one live album, and numerous B-side tracks and out-takes. Faith No More were founded in 1981 as Sharp Young Men, and changed their name to Faith No Man before releasing the 1982 double A-side single "Quiet in Heaven", "Song of Liberty".

Some even consider Angel Dust Faith No More’s best record, but aside from the shuffling beat, swelling synths and pop vocals of Midlife Crisis - which easily could have been sandwiched into The Real Thing - the album is far less listener-friendly than its predecessor. Some might even call it antagonistic. But I a lot of people didn’t get it, and we didn’t care. So in that respect we were like, ‘Well, yeah, f-- yo. But I don’t think that we wrote an album to say ‘f-- you’ to anybody. We actually liked what we did. From track to track, Faith No More toy with fad and formula, bisecting a driving distorted guitar riff with a whispered passage and an odd bass groove on Caffeine, following Midlife Crisis with the carnival melody and Tom Waits-style cigarette rasp of RV and opening Everything’s Ruined with a piano melody that flows into a pulsing funk groove before see-sawing.

all rights belong to faith no more. One of the most experimental, influential alternative-metal albums of all time. Bought this new more than 25 years ago, hasn´t lost a bit of it's fresh inventiveness and easily mops any hard rock, metal album released today. A seminal masterpiece and arguably the best and most strikingly original and entertaining rock album of the 90's.
