SFV Acid - The Dwell album FLAC

SFV Acid has revealed details of his new album, The Dwell, due out in May. Zane Reynolds is known for his loopy, lo-fi house productions, with his pseudonym's acid reference a nod to his penchant for 303s. The Dwell will see release through Brooklyn-based UNO imprint, which we featured as our label of the month back in February. According to a press release, the album was "conceptualized and recorded at a local Starbucks. on analogue gear, seated maniacally at a table.

Of all the possible public places SFV Acid could have chosen to record his debut album, Starbucks somehow seems the most poignant. For one thing, it's got enough faux cosmopolitanism to appeal to the sort of suburban loner who sees character in even the most characterless places, and it's anonymous enough for people to just wander in and do whatever they feel like doing there-even a San Fernando Valley beatsmith looking to spread out across a few tables and record an album.

Listening to SFV Acid’s The Dwell while in a coffee shop was probably a bad idea. As I listened to the divinely grungy ambience of Chronicled In C:affeine Headache, it was like witnessing my environment get sucked into a black hole: I could hear drinks in the actual coffee shop being made, a call for an iced mocha, the door opening and closing, an ambiguously local indie acoustic band playing throughout. The album itself, as a form, is largely reminiscent of Suzanne Ciani’s analog sound effects, the breaking down and reproduction of the banal. Her Coca-Cola pop and pour sounds are specifically - possibly unconsciously - referenced in Chronicled In C:affeine Headache.
