Back in 2009 we created this weird mashup cover version of 18th dyes "Amorines" and Tothe Internationals "Midnite & The Medicine" - we named it "Midnite And The Amorines", and sweet old CRUNCHY FROG released it on their massive " Saluting The Crunchy Frog-A-Logue" compilation. We kinda forgot we made i. .but now it's found and loved again.

They broke up in 1999 after 2 albums and an EP, but reformed in 2005. A third album "Amorine Queen" was released in 2008 but they split up again in 2009. Drone-heavy, fuzzed out debut LP Done, produced by Iain Burgess (Naked Raygun, Ministry, Big Black), was released in Germany in 1992 before the band gained a recording and distribution deal with US Independent label Matador Records in 1994, having been championed by Yo La Tengo. The self-produced six song EP Crayon followed in 1994.
Returning from a near-decade hiatus, cult-fave German/Danish dronemeisters 18th Dye do more than replicate their Sonic Youth leanings of yore on AMORINE QUEENS. Indisputable touches of late-period Clash (check the Mick Jones riff that opens Go ’n’ Go ) and even late-’70s Fleetwod Mac (note the surprising, somewhat deconstructed emulation of Tusk ’s arrangements on Big Sky ) find their way in between bass-driven punk dirges ( Is ) and more familiarly angular fuzz fests ( Text Is My Killer ).
