Join in and help count the animals in this traditional English song that explores textures and all kinds of creatures who live over in the meadow. From the book and CD illustrated by Jill McDonald.

Over in the meadow, Where the grass is so even, Lived a gay mother cricket, And her little crickets seven, "Chirp!' said the mother; "We chirp!' said the seven, So they chirped cheery notes, In the grass soft and even. Over in the meadow, By the old mossy gate, Lived a brown mother lizard, And her little lizards eight, "Bask!' said the mother; "We bask!' said the eight, So they basked in the sun, On the old mossy gate
La Belle Dame Sans Regrets. Deep in the meadow, under the willow. Где-то под ивой, прямо в лугах. A bed of grass, a soft green pillow. Here is the place where I love you. Там место, где я тебя люблю. Deep in the meadow, hidden far away. Где-то в лугах, спрятанных далью, A cloak of leaves, a moonbeam ray.
Picture a forest, a country road, a meadow. Cars drive off the country road into the meadow, a group of young people get out carrying bottles, baskets of food, transistor radios, and cameras. They light fires, pitch tents, turn on the music. In the morning they leave. The animals, birds, and insects that watched in horror through the long night creep out from their hiding places . The artifacts and phenomena left behind by the Visitors in the Zones were garbage, discarded and forgotten, without any preconceived plan to advance or damage humanity. There is little chance that the Visitors will return again because for them it was a brief stop, for reasons unknown, on the way to their actual destination.
