Natalie Maines - Mother album FLAC

Natalie Louise Maines (born October 14, 1974) is an American singer-songwriter and activist who achieved success as the lead vocalist for the female country band the Dixie Chicks. Born in Lubbock, Texas, Maines considers herself a rebel who "loved not thinking in the way I knew the majority of people thought. In 1995, after leaving Berklee College of Music, Maines was recruited by the Dixie Chicks to replace their lead singer, Laura Lynch.

Mother is Natalie Maines' first album since the Dixie Chicks' Grammy-sweeping Taking the Long Way in 2006, and comes ten years after the Dixie Chicks were boycotted and banned by country radio for Maines' criticism of . President George W. Bush in 2003 In June 2012, Maines announced the project on a Howard 100 News broadcast, stating, "I'm making an album, I think.

It’s been a decade since Natalie Maines said a few choice words about George W. Bush and set off the biggest flame war in country-music history. Overnight, the Dixie Chicks became pariahs, and the role suited them: They broke with Nashville, hooked up with Rick Rubin and recorded their tautest, most tough-minded album, 2006’s Taking the Long Way. Now, Maines returns with a solo LP – and she wants no part of country whatsoever. Mother, co-produced by Maines and Ben Harper, is a rock album, with nary a fiddle or pedal steel in earshot

In its mid-year report, Rolling Stone has named Natalie Maines’ MOTHER as one of the best albums of the year. A Dixie Chick Declares War on Nashville. Dixie Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines' long-awaited debut solo album, "Mother," a rock-leaning collection co-produced by Ben Harper featuring songs by artists ranging from Pink Floyd to Jeff Buckley, will be released May 7 on Columbia. Lots of albums by lead singers might just as well have been made by the band, but I think this is very different from anything the Chicks could make. With the Dixie Chicks, Maines has scored three No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 chart, including the trio's most recent studio release "Taking the Long Way" (2006). They've also sold 27 million albums in the . the biggest selling country group of the SoundScan era (1991-present). While there remains no word on new music from the group, the 13-time Grammy winners have lined up three Canadian festival dates for July.

And, that distinction, that Natalie Maines required the help of producer and co-writer Ben Harper to make the album, that the majority of the songs are remakes of other people’s work, might strike some as a flaw or weakness in the collection. But, in fairness, as a songwriter, Natalie Maines was never prolific, not even writing at all for her first recording with Dixie Chicks and slowly building her confidence and experience as her career progressed. has with her real life. Mother is a good, at times even great, start to a solo recording identity for Natalie Maines, but lacks only in the listener’s greatest desire, to learn more about Maines. If she pursues her own experiences and insights, as on Take It On Faith, then this whole arc might have the happy ending it deserves, an end that makes all the struggle seem worth it and transcends all the political and business realities that got Maines to this point.
