Karl Ulrich Schnabel / Mendelssohn / Schubert - Mendelssohn Sonata In E Major, Opus 6 / Schubert Waltzes, Landler, & German Dances album FLAC
Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy: Sonata In E Major, Opus 6. A1. Allegretto Con Espressione. Adagio E Senza Tempo Molto Allegro E Vivace. Companies, etc. Recorded At – Annex Studios, Hollywood.
Karl Ulrich Schnabel plays waltzes, Landler and German Dances by Schubert. I wish that piano competition participants would be required, along with the compositions that prove their technical chops, to play several of the more than 300 dances composed by Schubert before they are selected to perform in a competition. Why? There is absolutely no opportunity for technical display. The only thing that is there is, as Toscanini said, the music behind the notes. I recall hearing a Los Angeles pianist who is well known for her ability to sight read just about anything that is put in front of her.
