A former associate and romantic partner of Ayn Rand, Branden also played a prominent role in the 1960s in promoting Rand's philosophy, Objectivism. Rand and Branden split acrimoniously in 1968, after which Branden focused on developing his own psychological theories and modes of therapy.

Founded in New York, the Nathaniel Branden Institute grew to have branches in dozens of cities. Among its speakers was Alan Greenspan, the future chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. But by the late 1960s, Mr. Branden’s relationships with Ms. Rand and with his wife, Barbara, had deteriorated. It did not help that he had begun a relationship that year with a fashion model 15 years his junior, Patrecia Scott, who had attended his lectures (and whom he later married).

The Nathaniel Branden Institute (NBI), originally Nathaniel Branden Lectures, was an organization founded by Nathaniel Branden in 1958 to promote Ayn Rand's philosophy of Objectivism. The institute was responsible for many Objectivist lectures and presentations across the United States  . The institute disbanded after Nathaniel Branden's break with Rand in August 1968. Its closest analogues today are the Ayn Rand Institute and The Atlas Society (formerly known as The Objectivist Center). Since 1996, Nathaniel Branden has been associated with the latter organization. YouTube Encyclopedic.

Nathaniel Branden was referenced in The Body Keeps the Score- that's how I found this. It starts with the premise that one's feelings and intellect cannot truly be separated and that if you don't fully know yourself, including all of your messy feelings, then your judgment and life choices will be impacted by that unawareness. 8 people found this helpful.

Nathaniel Branden is the guy behind this book. He is the author of twenty books on the psychology of self-esteem, romantic love, and the life and thought of Objectivist philosopher Ayn Rand. In this book, the author tells how to build self-esteem. It contains the six pillars-six action-based practices for daily living that provide the foundation for self-esteem-and explores the central importance of self-esteem in five areas the workplace, parenting, education, psychotherapy, and the culture at large. The book also shows why-in today’s chaotic and competitive world-self-esteem is fundamental to our personal and professional power.
