The Mission - The Brightest Light album FLAC
This is a Mission album in name only, yes you read that right. I'd never been a fan of what Wayne and co. do but if this is how their final chapter is to be written, I'm going to have to go back and re-visit what they have done. Craig Adams left, Simon was already gone and Hussey began just putting out whatever. There were flashes of what they'd been on their then final album Blue. An album detested by fans to this day. All that aside (and we'll ignore the recent "final" shows which somehow made it onto DVD), The Mission have made a beat up bluesy beast of a record here. Hussey's lyrics are as per the norm loaded with references and sly jabs at people and institutions, he does so seem to like being the acrid tongued balladeer.
The Brightest Light is a tenth studio album by The Mission. PopMatters magazine wrote "For the repetition, occasional triteness and borrowed elements, The Brightest Light isn’t a perfect album from the Mission. That said, it is very good and has the potential to please established fans as well as the newly interested. If nothing else, The Brightest Light is a fine argument for the case that Goth Rock lives. All songs were written by Wayne Hussey, except where noted. Black Cat Bone" – 8:06.
The Brightest Light proves The Mission back is back. It might not be The Mission of old, but it is better than not having them at all. It takes a few listens to get into the album, and after the second or third time you will be humming or singing along with each track. There are some great songs on The Brightest Light and it fits in pretty well with their very diverse discography. Cryptic Rock gives it a 4 out of 5. The End Records.

Sometimes the Brightest Light Comes from the Darkest Place" is shot through with Hussey's sense of hooky melody, and beautifully weighted by Kelly's tom-tom-fueled pummeling. There are other songs here that don't seem so far from the band's roots.
