Odetta - Sings Ballads And Blues album FLAC

Odetta's debut album was a strong, confident effort featuring just her and her guitar on 16 tracks, most of which were traditional in origin. In its day, it was quite an influential recording; Bob Dylan, in fact, once cited this record in particular as the one that made him decide to trade in his electric guitar and amplifier for an acoustic guitar. Several of the songs would find their ways into the repertoires of subsequent folkies, and even some folk-rock bands

Odetta Sings Ballads and Blues. Odetta Sings Ballads and Blues is the debut solo album by American folk singer Odetta, first released in April 1957. Like much of Odetta's early work, Ballads and Blues combines traditional songs (. spirituals) with blues covers. Odetta is a 1963 compilation album by American folk singer Odetta. Odetta is the first official compilation of Odetta songs. It features songs from The Tin Angel, Odetta Sings Ballads and Blues, At the Gate of Horn and Odetta At Town Hall although not necessarily versions from those albums. It had a poorer reputation than the above-mentioned original albums, being seen as thrown-together by the label. This LP has subsequently not been released on CD like those three albums.

In 1956, when Odetta's first album, SINGS BALLADS AND BLUES, appeared on the shelves it was an instant classic-solidifying the tradition and bringing it to new places as well with originality and deep emotion. Odetta's renditions of folk standards were a powerful inspiration for many; especially important was her influence on the next generation that was about to change the face of folk. From the original liners, Dean Gitter announced "A magnificent new voice is here to sing the old songs. Her name is Odetta, and like everything else about this remarkable personality, it is unusual. The Tradition reissue of this album includes the complete liner notes by Producer Dean Gitter. The mastertapes were sonically cleansed and digitally remastered for this release.
