John Prine - In Spite Of Ourselves album FLAC

In Spite of Ourselves is the 13th studio album of John Prine, featuring duets with various well-known female folk and alt-country vocalists, released in 1999. The album was Prine’s first release since successfully battling throat cancer. The female duet partners include Iris DeMent, Connie Smith, Lucinda Williams, Trisha Yearwood, Melba Montgomery, Emmylou Harris, Dolores Keane, Patty Loveless, and his wife, Fiona Prine.

In Spite of Ourselves by John Prine appears on his 1999 album of the same name. This duet with Iris Dement was written with her in mind. Prine’s wife said she called Iris to tease her about the song and Dement said it took a lot of courage to sing some of the lines the first few times. John Prine often sings like he’s doing nothing more urgent than chewing on a blade of grass while lazing away a mid-August afternoon. His laconic tone is deceptive, because he’s one of the most sharply observant storytellers the post-hippie folk-country scene has produced. Though In Spite of Ourselves includes only one Prine original - the ribald title song, in which the once-innocent Iris DeMent sings about the panty-sniffing rogue she can’t help but love - it’s full of Prine-worthy tales

Reviews about John Prine - In Spite Of Ourselves (3):
Garne
Great album, terrible pressing. At least with my copy. A7 has tons of distortion and clipping. Also, super noisy throughout, even after a vigorous spin clean. United Nashville strikes again.
IGOT
Does anyone else have alot of noise and crackling between the tracks?
Sarin
It was pressed by United Record Pressing in Nashville, there is your answer! I didn’t buy it for that very reason. My general rule of thumb is to avoid anything pressed there ... like the plague. Once bitten and all that.
