This is a listing of Billboard Hot 100 chart achievements by decade. A decade for these achievements is defined as ten-year periods from years ending in '0' through years ending in '9'. Since the Hot 100 was first published in Billboard magazine in the issue dated August 4, 1958, the first decade of chart achievements ranges from that first issue through the last issue of 1969.
This top Billboard Hot 100 songs of each decade is ranked based on each title's performance on the Hot 100 through the chart dated Nov. 1, 2014. Songs are ranked based on an inverse point system, with weeks at No. 1 earning the greatest value and weeks at No. 100 earning the least.
The song, which trailed his fifth album Scorpion, spent nine weeks at the helm between February and April. Drake may have just missed out on the top spot, but he bags two more spots in the Top 40: fellow chart-toppers Nice For What and In My Feelings place at 7 and 15. God's Plan also finishes as the year's most streamed song with 147m plays. Drake and Calvin's impressive streaming numbers comes as the British Phonographic Industry (BPI)’s annual report reveals that streaming was up 34% year-on-year in the UK last year, with 91 billion audio streams across the year.
Priority's Chart Toppers series is an excellent budget-line collection, offering a strong selection of 15 original hits, grouped by a specific theme and decade, on each disc. Chart Toppers: R&B Hits of the 80's combines urban soul, Minneapolis funk, smooth ballads and dance-pop - an eclectic bunch, to say the least, but the variety helps capture the feeling of the decade. A few of the songs haven't dated well, but for the most part, the selection of songs is terrific, albeit a little predictable.
