BBC Philharmonic, Matthias Bamert - Stowkowski's Wagner (Die Walküre: Wotan's Farewell And Magic Fire Music / Tristan And Isolde: Symphonic Synthesis / Parsifal: Symphonic Synthesis From Act III) album FLAC

Tristan And Isolde: Symphonic Syntesis. Arranged By – Leopold Stokowski. Composed By – Richard Wagner. Conductor – Matthias Bamert. Engineer – Stephen Rinker. Engineer – Peter Newble. Liner Notes – Edward Johnson (3). Orchestra – BBC Philharmonic. Orchestrated By – Leopold Stokowski.

Wotan’s Farewell and Magic Fire Music; Symphonic Synthesis from Tristan and Isolde; Symphonic Synthesis from Parsifal. Performer: BBC s Bamert. Stokowski only ever conducted one Wagner opera, Parsifal, a concert performance in 1933, but he clearly loved Wagner’s music. The strings bring an incandescant glow to their sound, the sumptuous brass (including off-stage horns) are thrilling, wind solos lovingly phrased. Bamert, who we need to hear more of in opera, chooses his tempi convincingly. Judge Stokowski’s tamperings for what they are, not for what you might expect (such as conventional tubular bells rather than those distinctive Parsifal ones).

Tristan und Isolde, Symphonic synthesis (arr Stokowski). Parsifal, Symphonic Synthesis of Act 3 (arr Stokowski). Der) Ring des Nibelungen: Part 2, '(Die) Walküre', Magic Fire Music. Der) Ring des Nibelungen: Part 2, '(Die) Walküre', Ride of the Valkyries (concert version). It would be hard to imagine a more sumptuous disc. The Parsifal synthesis is limited to music from Act 3, thus ignoring the Good Friday Music. From Die Walküre comes the Magic Fire Music and, most excitingly, the Ride of the Valkyries. This is Naxos’s fourth Stokowski disc and is the finest yet. Follow us.
