Spanish label Subwax Bcn will reissue Fluxion's Vibrant Forms II in February 2016. Fluxion is Greek producer Konstantinos Soublis. Between 1998 and 2000 he put out four EPs on Chain Reaction, the seminal dub techno label run by Moritz Von Oswald and Mark Ernestus. In 2000, tracks from two of these EPs-Prospect and Bipolar Defect-were compiled into Vibrant Forms II, a two-disc package that also included several unreleased bits.

Stream Fluxion - Vibrant Forms, a playlist by type from desktop or your mobile device. The most shocking thing hearing it almost fifteen years after its original release however is how little it has dated. Soublis wisely avoided any cultural tropes, and the productions still sound fresh and deceptively alien. Through washes and waves of reverb and the faint thud of a kick drum the all-analogue productions contain a raw quality that is all too rare these days. Just head to the album’s elegiac closing number ‘Opaque’.

Reviews about Fluxion - Vibrant Forms II (3):

Vibrant forms series is what i love most by Fluxion, this release offers two cds, over 2 hours of music, its a generous production. For me the music here takes me most of the time to night atmospheres, as if i was wandering and exploring historical/medieval streets with a sky filled with stars above me, the lights that illuminate the scenarios around me are warm, and there's this presence of blurred light in the horizon, the music has an hypnotizing and relaxing effect on me , my top music in cd 1 is " Prospect II" and in cd 2 is: "Multidirectional I".

This second release by fluxion seems to peel off more abstact layers and thrusts you into a central core that can only be explained as erethreal and sublime. The closest feeling you can get to an out of body experience through music. If that even seems possible, just listen to the entirety of this luscious gem (and you will see what i'm getting at). It's simply an overwhelming experience to take the entire 2-disc journey on in one single session (but it's worth it)! This is truly an ambient-dubby asthetic mind circa that should be had by all!

The second Fluxion effort on Chain Reaction unravels as an epic two discs, and while it seems an overly thorough exploration of a type of dubby techno, it in no way disappoints. Subtlety is the name of the game here, and Fluxion does it with effortless expertise. Fluid, shifting sounds weave in and out of multi-layered, off-kilter beats--which, while relatively simple in structure seem to endlessly realign themselves with multiple time signatures. Circa and Equilibrium are my racks of choice, but the two discs are better understood as a whole. Sublime, soporific, and excellent.
