Split Enz - Corroboree album FLAC

Waiata is the sixth studio album by New Zealand new wave band Split Enz, released in 1981. Its Australian release was titled Corroboree. Waiata is the Māori term for song and singing, while corroboree is the Aboriginal term. According to Noel Crombie the intention was to name the album using a word from the natives of every country it was released in. This did not go ahead and the only country to adopt this change was Australia. The rest of the world kept the New Zealand title Waiata.

This is a complete discography listing for Split Enz, a New Zealand originated experimental rock-pop group. Their creative output includes several albums, singles, music videos, compilations as well as having albums pay tribute by other artists.

Despite a couple of classic singles - "One Step Ahead" and "History Never Repeats" - and a handful of other inspired tracks, the album marks the band's first lateral move. Waiata" is the Maori word for "party" (the album was given the aboriginal party title, Corroboree, in Australia). Following in the trend of True Colours, A&M issued three different colored covers for the worldwide release.

Only for completionists (0%). Certainly a better album than its predecessor True Colours. Hints of the sophomore '80s effort Time & Tide. Great sounding production. This would also appeal to fans of XTC for it's quirkiness, as well as 10cc for production values. Definitely headphone po. rog and an album to put on during sunny days. Waiata (Corroboree in Australia) is usually seen as an acceptable, yet somewhat less original, safe follow-up to Split Enz's breakthrough album, True Colours, released a year earlier.

Split Enz were a rock band from New Zealand that was popular during the late 1970s and early 1980s. It was founded in 1973 by Tim Finn and Phil Judd, and had a variety of other members during its existence. Split Enz had eight songs listed in the APRA Top 100 New Zealand Songs of All Time, more than any other band. Split Enz had ten albums (including seven studio albums) reach the top ten of the Official New Zealand Music Chart.

For the Split Enz album, see Waiata (album). WR Thomas, A South Australian Corroboree, 1864, Art Gallery of South Australia. A corroboree is an event where Australian Aboriginals interact with the Dreamtime through dance, music and costume. Their bodies painted in different ways, and they wore various adornments, which were not used every da. The word corroboree was coined by the European settlers of Australia in imitation of an east coast local Aboriginal Australian word caribberie. Corroboree, a ballet performance based on the corroboree.
