First Contact is the debut studio album by American house producer Roger Sanchez, released in July 2001 by Defected Records. After establishing himself as a popular DJ and remixer throughout the 1990s, Sanchez decided he wanted to create more of his own music and record a studio album, feeling he had "a bit of a story to tell with. Conceiving the album to be a very personal "reflection of his life", Sanchez recorded First Contact over a four-year period.

Roger Sanchez (born June 1, 1967) is a Dominican-American house music DJ, remixer and producer. He won a Grammy Award for his remix of "Hella Good" by No Doubt in 2003, and is best known for his song "Another Chance", which was an international hit in 2001. He is a four time DJ Awards winner for "Best House DJ" in 1999, 2002, 2004 and 2007 and has received twelve nominations in total.

Sanchez album 'First Contact' cover illustration. Groupe creative director Blam approached lost in space to take the pin art theme of the previous covers into a new dimension. The new cover features a pin art rendition of the famous Sanchez logo. Other images created by lost in space explore a variety of objects including Roger's face complete with glasses and hat seen as raised pins in a matrix of metallic pins. Our series of images involved showing the S Logo emerging from. The objects including Roger himself where scanned via a 3d laser scanner at Cybersite UK. The now digital objects where then manipulated and pushed into the rear of the digital matrix to create the pin art images. Client: Sony Design: Groupe Art director: Blam of Groupe.

It's the first time a lot of people get the chance to get that close, to really see the different sides to me, there is a lot of emotional songs and music on the album. 4 people found this helpful.

Roger Sanchez - First Contact Roger returns to the dance/club scene with an undoubtedly one of the best albums released this year. First Contact is musically a long time coming from Sanchez but it delivers all the goods in my eyes and was well worth the wait. The ‘S-Man’ grew up in the early 90’s as a prolific remixer, world-class dance DJ and pretty much a house-hold name by the end of the decade. While he preferred to concentrate more on mix albums rather than proper productions under his own name, Sanchez’s career continued to rise

Reviews about Roger Sanchez - First Contact (2):
Livina
Roger Sanchez made a name for himself as one of the producers of the House, in the early 1990s, leading American dance label Strictly Rhythm. Generally he concentrates on mixklussen for other artists such as Babyface, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Janet Jackson, Chic, M-People and Soul II Soul. On First Contact tacks he useful between commerce and credibility. In the opener, he immediately Computabank of his best side. It is an alienating, hypnotic house number in trendy clubs surely will do well. Another Chance and Contact are also guaranteed ' floorfillers '. Radio-friendly hits are the sing-along You Can't Change Me-which he help get from DJ Armand Van Helden and N'Dea Davenport-and Nothing 2 Prove, with Sharleen Spiteri (Texas). Like any good DJ Roger Sanchez flawlessly to feel what his audience wants to hear, turn them occasionally on the wrong leg but at all times that the dance floor filled.
Hulore
Super slick and great to groove to. A House classic.
