Who Are You", composed by Pete Townshend, is the title track on The Who's 1978 release, Who Are You, the last album released before drummer Keith Moon's death in September 1978. It was released as a double-A sided single with the John Entwistle composition "Had Enough", also featured on the album.
On the Who's final album with Keith Moon, their trademark honest power started to get diluted by fatigue and a sense that the group's collective vision was beginning to fade. As instrumentalists, their skills were intact. More problematic was the erratic quality of the material, which seemed torn between blustery attempts at contemporary relevance ("Sister Disco," "New Song," "Music Must Change") and bittersweet insecurity ("Love Is Coming Down").

Nothing The Who did could really be called bad in my book, especially not while Keith was with them. I really like Guitar and Pen. New Song would be third. The rest of the album rather distantly behind, but still enjoyable to hear every once in a while. 27 views · View 2 Upvoters · Answer requested by Quora User. Keith Moon’s unfortunate death on 7 September 1978, completely overshadowed the release of Who Are You. Ironically, he is photographed on the cover sitting on a chair with the words Not To Be Taken Away emblazoned on its back. Bonus tracks on 1996 remastered CD.
Who Are You is an LP the Who have been working toward all through the Seventies. The fears of aging, irrelevancy and the dissolution of one’s self, one’s band or one’s audience that peeked out of Who’s Next and The Who by Numbers have finally surfaced whole. Keith Moon, unstable, unreliable, sits in a chair. marked Not to Be Taken Away. It will be a real disappointment if another three years pass before the next Who album: this one seems to have left them ready for the new music they claim they can’t make - a claim that’s obviated by what is new and, more importantly, compelling on Who Are You. I said this was, despite its claims to oblivion, a confident record: what makes it so is the Who’s refusal to settle for mere survival, for automatic applause and meaningless pro forma hits.
