Pavel Milyakov - La Maison De La Mort album FLAC
The Russian producer also known as Buttechno turns to ambient. Pavel Milyakov - La Maison De La Mort "Deconstructed club music" was such an overused and imperfect descriptor in 2018 that it became a meme, a catchphrase for poking fun at people who think too little and too much at the same time. If it didn't already have that baggage, I might use it to describe this new album of spooky synth sketches from the Russian producer Pavel Milyakov, AKA Buttechno.
Buttechno is releasing an ambient album under his real name Pavel Milyakov on Berceuse Heroique. La Maison De La Mort is a double-LP with artwork by Will Bankhead from The Trilogy Tapes. The press release says the album "combines the amorphous electronic soundscapes of an Eduard Artemyev soundtrack, the alienness of the Chiastic Slide era of Autechre and the beautiful expansiveness of Peter Kember's best work. The label say they manufactured only a "small amount" of the record and that it will be out next Monday, January 14th.

La Maison de la Mort. The album’s 16 tracks alight on weird dubs, hushed études, lashing noise, and what could pass for a lost theme from Stalker. The title stems from Guillaume Apollinaire’s poem of the same name, which you can hear recited in Russian on the opening track, setting the tone with allusions to cemeteries and the underworld. Milyakov adds just a hint of drone to the piece before it cuts off. Bolotniy has a pulse, but the sonics are otherwise skeletal.

In recent times we've become accustomed to hearing Pavel Milyakov in full-on obtuse techno mode, delivering devilish dancefloor workouts that tend toward the unflinchingly intense. On La Maison De La Mort, the Russian producer changes take, delivering an album for Berceuse Heroique that's breathtaking in its scope and ambition.
