John Cale - Helen Of Troy album FLAC

Helen of Troy is the sixth solo studio album by Welsh musician John Cale, released in November 1975 by Island Records, his last of three albums for the label. During the sessions Cale cut two cover versions, "Willow Weep for Me" and "God Only Knows", which went unreleased. Another unused track, "Mary Lou", was released on the compilation album Guts. The album features a cover of "Pablo Picasso" originally by the Modern Lovers, a song which Cale had produced for the band's debut album.
Helen of Troy Lyrics: Oh, d'you see him standing in the street?, Mmm, he looks so neat, I've seen him before, Running round with all the boys, All that's right, Mmm, big thighs, Greet me, greet m. Helen of Troy Lyrics. Oh, d'you see him standing in the street? Mmm, he looks so neat I've seen him before Running round with all the boys All that's right Mmm, big thighs. Greet me, greet me in the dark Shiny, shiny Joan of Arc When the moonlight starts its flow Cold heart Helen, Queen of gold ? She's got charisma, got thunderstorms Like a baby, never, never been balled She's got mad men, murmuring in the skies She's the cause of her rise. Oh, Helen of Troy Oh, Helen of Troy Oh, Helen of Troy Oh, Helen of Troy

Helen of Troy is the sixth solo studio album by Welsh musician John Cale, released in November 1975 by Island Records, his last of three albums for the label. It could have been a great album. I came back from finishing Patti Smith's Horses and had three days to finish Helen of Troy before I went on Italian tour. I was spending eighteen hours a day in the studio. When I got back, I found the record company had gone ahead and released what amounted to demo tapes. The trouble was that Island had their own ideas of what that album should sound like. They wanted to include songs I don't particularly like, but it was also an impertinent assumption on my part that I was capable of managing myself.

The supporting crew on Cale's final Island album makes for a lineup that could never have happened again - at least, in terms of future results, imagining, among others, Cale, Chris Spedding, Brian Eno, and Phil Collins once more in the same room together seems totally unlikely. Regardless of the oddity, Cale once again led a great ensemble band (Spedding now having fully taken over from Manzanera on guitar) through another set of great, inspiring songs
Helen of Troy" had a compromised birth. John Cale wasn't quite ready to release the album and it came out while he completed a brief tour. This further soured relations with Island his label. In retrospect even if Cale had decided "Helen of Troy" wasn't ready to be launched, it's a strong album and one of Cale's finest of the 1970's
